As a voter, I am tired of the blame game the city, school district, county and state governments play with each other. Instead, I would like to see them working together. For example, in Albany we have a failing education system and it does not help that the city and the county do not provide appropriate after-school places for children to be taken — good after-school programs, playgrounds, parks, and now, skating rinks.
The state Office of General Services decision to deny us another place for children and families does not help the situation. I wish Mayor Jerry Jennings would spend time at the Capitol advocating for keeping the skating rink open, but obviously it is not a priority for him. It is easier to just blame the state and do nothing about it.
